Programme
Sixth Form life is about more than just academic
study. We encourage our students to take an interest in the
wider world around us through our PHSCE and General Studies programmes
and a variety of guest speakers, courses, conferences, visits
and seminars. We also offer the chance to take part in Games and
our Enrichment programme which encompasses Creativity, Activity
and Service The SL6 Student Committee and the Dunraven Sixth Form
Council also give students the opportunity to have their say on
matters which affect the Sixth Form and the school in general.
The SL6 Committee is responsible for organising social events,
including debates, discos, talent shows, bowling and sports events. The
Debating Society enters national and local debating contests and
the Sixth Form students take part in a number of schemes including
the Engineering Education Scheme, debating contests, Model United
Nations, Community Action programmes and Amnesty International.

Community
action is your chance to give something back to the
community. Once a week, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, our
Sixth Form students can opt to work in one of a wide variety
of community action projects. This year, for example, students
are working as volunteers in hospitals, as classroom assistants
in local primary schools and with the Windmill Gateway Club
for young people with learning difficulties in Brixton. Others
opportunities include the Sports Leadership Award. Sporting
activities are also available to the Sixth Form on Wednesday
afternoons, including squash, Tae Kwon Do, Keep Fit and weight-training,
and the Sixth Form football team is entered for a number of
cup matches.
Private Study
Sixth Form life at Dunraven offers you the
opportunity to take on positions of responsibility and leadership
within the school and to participate in and help organise many
different school functions and events. You will be encouraged
to take on responsibility for your own learning, and private
study periods on the timetable will help bridge the gap between
the structure of the GCSE timetable and the freedom you will
experience at university.
