Sixth Form Induction Programme

Our Induction Programme starts in November, with a Sixth Form Information Evening for prospective students and their parents, followed by discussions with subject teachers. This is followed up in July with a one day programme offering you the chance to prepare for life in the Sixth Form and to finalise subject choices. At the start of Year 12 we continue with a study skills seminar to help you find the most effective ways of developing your own learning techniques and organising your time in the Sixth Form. Year 12 students also take part in a problem-solving day at the start of the year to encourage thinking skills and working together.

Guidance and Support

In the Sixth Form you will be a member of a tutorial group, with a tutor who will offer you help and guidance throughout your time in the Sixth Form. The Sixth Form Team, which includes the Director and Deputy Director of Sixth Form, Personal Tutors, a Post-16 learning mentor and an e-learning coordinator will also be involved in monitoring your progress and giving you any extra support and advice that might be needed.

Our PHSCE programme aims to support your personal development with topics such as "Independent Living," “Introduction to Higher Education” "World of Work" "Road Safety” and "Healthy Living," Guest speakers are invited into school to talk to the Sixth Form about a variety of issues, from charity presentations to information about choosing a Gap Year before university. Sixth Form tutor groups also prepare and organise assemblies, displaying their particular creativity and talents when dealing with important issues.
