And the winner is....
In the British Construction Industry awards 2009, just announced, the winner of the Small Building Project Award was Dunraven's sports hall.
The judges said:
Dunraven School's new sports hall uses recycled sea containers to create the building envelope. It provides a full height, four court sports hall including gym space and viewing galleries at first floor level.
- A unique, economical and sustainable construction using redundant sea containers
for the building envelope
- A world first for a sports hall built in this way which has influenced
the school pupils to understand the importance of sustainability
- Good use of colours and texture
- Apart from the innnovation and green credentials it is a most impressive
sports hall, totally fit for its purpose.
